Testing New Boomerangs

Coming up with new boomerang designs can be a daunting task,  it takes many hours to make the perfect boomerang to perform a particular task, there are many failures and many victories, also there can be many trips to the park back and forth constantly tweaking and trying different materials to get it right. 
Boomerang making is definitely a labor of love, I have literally made thousands of boomerangs, some have been great and some just needed a little bit more time and redesign to be great. 
I am working on several new designs right now that will be for fast catch and trick catch competition, also I am looking at older designs that can possibly be made more user friendly with just a few design changes.

Well, when I first started making boomerangs I could see it was a hard task, not only was good quality plywood hard to find but if you did find some it cost The earth to buy, I did try a wide variety of plywood, everything from Queensland maple, Hoop pine, Meranti and Finish birch, all reasonable quality but I couldn't find any consistency from sheet to sheet, the grain varied a lot and the density was always different and not consistent, this doesn't help repeat ability when making boomerangs. I like the fact to that plastic is incredibly easy to tune without breaking, especially polypropylene. Boomerang Designs Revisited

On the weekend I received a boomerang order, the order was for boomerangs that weren't in the Catalog but we're from a time when I made them in the past, I was happy to oblige as they were great designs that weren't popular from a sales point, I'm not sure why as they have so much potential for competition, anyway I went down to my workshop and got stuck into cutting and shaping, I revised the airfoil to make them even better than before, I went and tested them in the park and they were fantastic flyers, both a ton of fun and super accurate.  The improvements were so good I will be putting them back in the Catalog shortly, I am very happy to say the least.  The two designs are the Blast and the Cyclone, the Blast is a 50m triblader, tiny and compact, it likes a bit of wind, totally mesmerising in flight, the Cyclone is a multi purpose boomerang, it's best suited to accuracy, endurance or team relay, again lovely flight and dead on accuracy.  I feel I have breathed n

New Affordable Boomerang Range
